The story of Olivier began with a significant moment in our lives—the day we tied the knot. As a wedding gift, Alex received many lovely gold pieces as part of the Mediterranean tradition. Gifting gold for weddings isn't that common in North America, but it's a big deal in Mediterranean culture.
One piece that stood out was an amazing gold bangle, a family heirloom passed down through generations in Joe's family. This gift comes with a lot of meaning: moms give high-value jewelry to their daughters on their wedding day as a symbol of support. Alex wears that bangle with so much pride in her daily life, and it's a real conversation starter because of its unique design.
Fast forward a few years, after all the craziness of the pandemic, we finally got to visit our family overseas. Alex, inspired by the Mediterranean tradition she loves, wanted to visit a local jewelry store to bring back unique pieces for her friends who were also getting married.
From the moment we entered the store, we were blown away. The jewelry offered was beautiful, unique and mostly 18k gold. We couldn't help but wonder why there was such a gap in the global jewelry market.
